Midweek Advent Vespers
Please join us for our Midweek Advent Vespers services on Wednesdays at 5 pm as we explore the theme "What Child is This!"
The Church Year begins with the season of Advent, which means “coming.” It is the four-week period right before Christmas in which we prepare to celebrate the coming of Jesus Christ into the world. As we look forward to the day of His birth there is, of course, much joy and gladness in our hearts. But there is also regret and shame because the Eternal Son of God would not have humbled Himself in this way if it were not on account of our sinfulness.
The color of Advent is either violet (the historic and penitential color) or blue (the color of Mary) which many also use, including us. During these weeks of waiting for the day of Christ’s birth we are like the Old Testament believers who longed for the promised Savior to come, and like Mary and others we too marvel at "What Child is This!"
